Our Story
Founded in 1970 by Dale Marquis and Sam Battistone, Invest West Financial began in Santa Barbara, California with a diverse portfolio that included investments in the Tennis Club of Santa Barbara, the New Orleans Jazz (NBA franchise), Big Yellow House Restaurants, and a range of other businesses and real estate assets.
In 1986, Dale became sole owner and expanded into retail, office, residential, and hospitality real estate. In 1992, he merged with Jerry Beaver to form Pacifica Real Estate Group, which became a dominant force in Santa Barbara’s commercial leasing and real estate syndication throughout the 1990s. Dale’s son, Matt Marquis, joined Pacifica Real Estate Group in 1997 as an asset manager, and in 2000, Dale and Matt reorganized Invest West to purchase Pacifica Hotel Company. Over the next decade, Invest West and Pacifica Hotel Company grew their combined real estate holdings to nearly $1 billion.
What began in Santa Barbara has evolved into one of the most experienced hospitality real estate platforms on the West Coast. For more than 55 years, Invest West Financial has built wealth through hospitality real estate — navigating every major market cycle along the way.
Today, the platform is led by Matt, Adam, and Chris Marquis as senior leadership. Our team has the experience to navigate any market — because operating DNA is embedded in everything we do. We were never built to simply raise capital. We were built to own and operate hotels.
